Lovejot Kaur on how the Mrs Universe pageant gave her a vision and a voice

Dentist, dancer, beauty queen—you can certainly say Lovejot Kaur has her hands full. And did we mention, mom and community service volunteer as well. Still, Lovejot manages to juggle her careers, passions and responsibilities with remarkable ease, all the while maintaining her poise.

“My journey in the modelling industry started with the first ever South Asian bridal show in Adelaide in November 2014. Thanks to the director Nowman Kareem and the show’s assistant Francesca McMillan. Being a part of this family has empowered me to believe in myself,” says Lovejot, who then went on to win the title of Mrs Universe Australasia 2015-2016.

She also qualified to be part of Mrs Universe 2015. “Being in Minsk Belarus for the Mrs Universe pageant was like living a dream. I won the Title of Mrs Universe E-Vote. I was overwhelmed with the support I received during my journey. This industry gave me a vision and voice,” says Lovejot.

“I understood the importance of giving back to the community. Now I am a proud supporter of various charities and groups like White ribbon Australia, Ovarian cancer Australia, ZooSA, Share the Dignity, Diversity and Empowerment,” she adds.

In March, Lovejot performed at the Fringe Festival, where she was part of ‘Swingesque’—a tribute to movie musicals through dance, singing and comedy.

“Everything is thanks to the support of my husband and family,” says Lovejot.

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,
Team The Indian Sun
