Over 100 guests from Victoria’s business community gathered at Melbourne Museum recently for Bank of Melbourne’s Diwali celebration.

Guests were treated to keynote speaker Australian cricket legend Glenn McGrath’s stories of his fondness for his time playing cricket and spending time in the community in both Melbourne and India. One of his lessons to business leaders was that success—on field as part of the Australian cricket team and off field with the McGrath Foundation—is about building a team of great people.

Bank of Melbourne Chief Executive Michelle Winzer spoke about the importance of a thriving Indian business community to a strong and prosperous Victoria, and highlighted Bank of Melbourne’s migrant and multicultural banking team who are dedicated to the needs of people who have relocated to Australia.

“Victoria’s melting pot of cultures makes Melbourne one of the most liveable cities in the world. You only need to walk through the city to see how our diverse community has created a vibrant economy that’s one of the strongest in Australia. Multiculturalism is part of the Victorian way of thinking, and our way of life,” said Ms Winzer.

“Our outstanding migrant and multicultural banking team is here to support our customers as they build their life here. Almost half of our staff speak more than one language. And like a quarter of Victorians, many are migrants themselves.”

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,
