The film Dil Bechara touched the hearts of more than 95 million in the first 24 hours of its release on Disney+ Hotstar multiplex on 24 July at 7.30pm. Starring late Sushant Singh Rajput (as Manny), and Sanjana Sanghi (as Kizie), the film marks the directorial debut by Mukesh Chhabra.
Kizie and Manny (as it was originally titled and then changed to Dil Bechara) is a beautiful love story that remains with you hours after the film has ended. Although the film was set to release in May it was postponed as the country’s cinemas were closed as part of a nationwide lockdown to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in India. Following Rajput’s death by suicide in June, Fox Star Studios announced that the film would be streamed for free, irrespective of subscriptions, on Disney+ Hotstar from 24 July.
The official trailer of the film was released on YouTube on 6 July and became the most liked trailer in the world within 24 hours of its release, with 4.8 million likes.
After watching the mesmerising performance, all I want to say is SSR, you shall be remembered. Always. Here is my dedication to the actor.
‘Mann ki chaah Roshni ki’
Suraj ki roshni
Mein dikha usse uska sunhera kal
Banana chahta tha usse apna. Muqqaddr ko manjhe ki tarah muthi mein le, Chal pada uss oddh
Nangay paav oss lagge gaahss par
Kabhi woh phisla, Kabhi sambhla, Lekin haar na mana
Kabhi kaante chubbeh , Kabhi pathar lagge, Kabhi lagaye gaye, Lekin manjha na chodah usne
Nafrat thi usse saanjh se
Kyunki saanjh aane se woh uska jagmagata suraj doobta dekta tha
Tapish ki puhaar jaisa lagta usse suraj ka jaana. Seh nahi pata uske roshan suraj ko jata dekh
Woh phir mehnat karta. Aur tezzi se bagta. Apni disha badalta
Ki kisi ore usse wapas sunhara suraj dikh jaye.
Dekha saanjh hui thi
Alag sa sookoon mila usse
Jab chanda ki thandi chaav lagi, Laga usse jaise shayad issika aasra tha
Chal pada woh aagey, Andheyre ko jaane kyun apnnane
Muthi se dheel diye , Apne patang ki dorr ko halka kar Faasle kamm kiye.
Taqdeer ko niyantran kar, Aasma chuna chata tha woh
Dundhuli hone lagi aawaze.
Dheemi hone lagi suraj ki chamak, Ab darr nahi laga usse saanjh ke badaloh ka
Lekin jab choddi pantang ki dorr, Toh laga usse armaan hai pantange jaisa
Chal pada woh uss oddh!
Pata tha akela hai, Patanga hai woh
Jo jalne ka armaan liye aage badd raha hai
Dheriyah le, aankhe band
Jaise maa ki kripa yaad kar
Falakk bana tabh laga usse
Mila usse santavna, jab mili…
Chanda ki roshni

Dear Reader,The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.
Thank you for your support.
