Australia is gearing up for an action-packed cricket season with two four-day matches between Australia A and India A, along with a three-day internal match featuring players from the Indian Test squad and India A. These matches will set the stage for the much-anticipated NRMA Insurance Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, highlighting the intense preparation of the top-ranked Test nations.

Cricket Australia has announced that this summer will see the biggest Indian presence ever, with the Indian men’s and women’s teams playing across eight venues nationwide over 69 days. This period promises thrilling cricketing action, starting with the Australia A v India A matches at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay (31 Oct-3 Nov) and the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) (7-10 Nov). Following these, an internal Indian match will be held at the WACA Ground (15 Nov-17 Nov), where players will vie for spots in the Test squad.

Adding to the excitement, the Australian women’s team will clash with India in three One Day Internationals (ODIs) in December, as the rivalry between the reigning world champions and the rising Indian team reaches new heights. The fixtures between these two formidable women’s teams are highly anticipated and will undoubtedly draw significant attention.

Tickets for the NRMA Insurance Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, the CommBank Women’s ODI against India, and other matches such as the Dettol ODI and T20I series between Australia and Pakistan men, as well as the CommBank Women’s Ashes, will be available for purchase from 14 June.

Peter Roach, Cricket Australia’s Head of Cricket Operations and Scheduling, highlighted the significance of this summer’s schedule. “The 2024-25 summer is marked by the five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, the first five-Test series between these two giants in over 30 years. Hosting these A matches at venues like the upgraded Great Barrier Reef Arena and the MCG adds significant status and provides players from both sides with excellent opportunities to stake their claim for selection.”

This announcement underscores the excitement and intense preparation leading up to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series and the women’s ODIs. Fans can look forward to a thrilling summer of cricket, with both emerging talents and seasoned players showcasing their skills on Australian soil.
