Perfect Events Group (PEG) has clinched the title of Best Charity or Cause-Related Event at the Australian Event Awards 2024 in Sydney, recognised for its work on the Legacy Centenary Torch Relay 2023. This relay, a massive operation spanning over 55,000 kilometres, involved 1,500 torchbearers and 1,000 volunteers, all joining forces to raise a remarkable $7.5 million for veterans and their families.

The judges praised PEG’s strategic approach, stating that the group’s intricate planning and ability to pair corporate sponsors with families benefiting from Legacy’s initiatives was “impressive and meaningful.” Chairman of Legacy Australia, Wayne McNee, extended congratulations to PEG’s Founder and CEO, Liliana Sanelli, and her team, noting that their recognition was “thoroughly deserved.”

Accepting the award, Sanelli reflected on the experience, saying, “I’m so humbled and proud to have led my team on this ambitious project.” She noted how the campaign’s scope included meeting King Charles III in London, where they presented him with a Legacy Centenary torch, making the experience even more memorable.

Sanelli emphasised the inspiring nature of the project, which brought together thousands of individuals—volunteers, Legatees, sponsors, and team members—under one vision. She expressed gratitude to Legacy Australia, the Australian Defence Force, PEG’s team, and an impressive list of corporate sponsors, including Defence Health, Lockheed Martin, BAE, Boeing, Accenture, and Yarra Trams.

The Legacy Centenary Torch Relay has left a lasting impact, showing what collective dedication can achieve in honouring veterans and their families.
