The unmistakable flair of Shane Warne’s life and career has found a new home—on the board of MONOPOLY. Cricket fans and families alike can now roll the dice on a tribute to one of the sport’s greatest legends, brought to life through the Shane Warne Legacy edition of the iconic game.
This unique edition is a playful journey through Warne’s monumental milestones. From his unforgettable “Ball of the Century” to his 700th Test wicket, the board is dotted with highlights of his storied career. Properties include iconic matches, personal achievements, and even a nod to his cherished off-field adventures, such as fast cars and golf. Players will navigate a board brimming with nostalgia, from St Kilda to Hampshire, with whimsical Chance and Community Chest cards capturing moments like Warne’s infamous baked bean saga.
The game’s tokens add another layer of charm, with items like a cricket ball and a slice of pizza reflecting Warne’s personality. It’s a playful way to celebrate his legacy, offering fans a tangible connection to his life while supporting a meaningful cause. All profits from the Shane Warne Legacy MONOPOLY will fund charitable initiatives aligned with Warne’s values.
A world-record-sized MONOPOLY board, sprawling over 1,200 square metres, was unveiled at St Kilda’s Junction Oval to mark the launch. The supersized display echoes the larger-than-life persona of the cricket legend and will undoubtedly draw fans eager to step onto the board.
Helen Nolan, CEO of the Shane Warne Legacy, believes this tribute captures Shane’s enduring impact. “Shane would be blown away to see a MONOPOLY board bearing his name, especially knowing it supports causes he cared deeply about,” she said.
For the Warne family, this game evokes fond memories of competitive matches at home. Keith and Brigitte Warne reminisced about the countless family MONOPOLY nights. “While we can’t remember who won the most games, we know the board was flipped more than a few times,” they joked.
Jackson Warne, Shane’s son, shared his father’s indomitable spirit during those games. “Dad would buy everything, refuse to make deals, and never let us win! It’s amazing that families everywhere can now create their own memories while celebrating him.”
This special edition, limited to 23,000 sets, includes 1,000 collector’s editions featuring a keepsake sleeve. Every 23rd box order will receive one of these exclusive editions, adding an extra element of excitement. Available for global shipping, the sets can be ordered via the Shane Warne Legacy website.
The Shane Warne Legacy MONOPOLY is a heartfelt homage to an extraordinary cricketer, father, and cultural icon. It’s a chance for families to laugh, compete, and remember the man who redefined cricket for generations.
