Parramatta sparkles this festive season! Join us for the Christmas magic with live music, markets, and the grand lighting of the 16-metre tree at Parramatta Square.

The City of Parramatta has ushered in the festive season with the illumination of a towering 16-metre Christmas tree in Parramatta Square. The event, held on 28 November, featured live music, festive carollers, and a visit from Santa, delighting attendees of all ages.

Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter expressed his enthusiasm for the community gathering, highlighting the joy and happiness it brings during this special time of year. He shared personal reflections on celebrating Christmas in Parramatta, noting the continuity of traditions with his own children.

The festivities also marked the return of the City’s Christmas Markets, presented by Walker Corporation, featuring over 50 stalls offering a variety of gifts and treats. Robert Beck, Walker NSW General Manager of Investment Assets, described Parramatta Square as a festive wonderland, ideal for family, friends, and colleagues to connect and enjoy the holiday atmosphere.

In addition to the markets, a new nativity display has been unveiled, symbolising the season’s spiritual significance. Cr Zaiter emphasised the importance of reflecting on the birth of Jesus Christ and supporting community members facing challenges, encouraging a spirit of giving and connection as the year concludes.

The City of Parramatta’s festive programme will continue into the new year, featuring weekly Christmas Markets in Centenary Square every Wednesday from 4 to 18 December, and various entertainment events throughout the season. Residents and visitors are invited to participate in the celebrations and experience the holiday magic in the heart of Parramatta.
