This December, Parramatta is set to spread holiday cheer with two cherished community events aimed at bringing people together during the festive season.

The Seniors Christmas Party and the Christmas Day Brunch will return to Riverside Theatres and Parramatta Town Hall, offering free celebrations for seniors, their companions, and those in need.

Riverside Theatres will deck the halls for seniors and their companions to celebrate the festive season with a free morning tea and screening of Christmas movie, The Man Who Invented Christmas on Thursday 19 December from 9.30am-12.15pm.

Make a Difference for Christmas Charity will take over Parramatta Town Hall for a special Christmas Day Brunch featuring a spectacular spread with all the festive trimmings for people in need. The free community event, proudly supported by Council and Walker Corporation, runs from 10.30am-1pm on Wednesday 25 December.

City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter said Christmas is a time to both celebrate and give back to the people in our community who are less fortunate.

“Christmas can be the most magical time of the year for many but for some of our more vulnerable community members, it can be a lonely time,” Cr Zaiter said.

“We don’t want anyone in our community to miss out on a decent meal or the chance to celebrate the festive season in good company.

“If you’re a senior or in need of company and a good meal this Christmas, I encourage you to join these events.”

Dear Reader,

The Indian Sun is an independent organisation committed to community journalism. We have, through the years, been able to reach a wide audience especially with the growth of social media, where we also have a strong presence. With platforms such as YouTube videos, we have been able to engage in different forms of storytelling. However, the past few years, like many media organisations around the world, it has not been an easy path. We have a greater challenge. We believe community journalism is very important for a multicultural country like Australia. We’re not able to do everything, but we aim for some of the most interesting stories and journalism of quality. We call upon readers like you to support us and make any contribution. Do make a DONATION NOW so we can continue with the volume and quality journalism that we are able to practice.

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,
Team The Indian Sun
